"Chants at Night" The Art
of Nocturno
The Nocturne was invented by the Irish
composer John Field and brought to highest poetic peaks by Chopin.
But many other composers composed Nocturnes. The most interesting ones, different
in character and style, form this unusual yet compelling program, perfectly
suited for Roberto Prosseda’s unique sensitivity for piano tone colours and
cantabile

Even though he became known mainly for
his film scores (Fellini, Visconti, Coppola et al.), the Italian
pianists and composer was already as a child considered a Wunderkind in the field of classical
music and later on, besides his famous film scores, wrote numerous operas,
symphonies and concertos.
Prosseda plays his piano concertos
in C (1960) and E (1962) as well as the well-known
concert-soirée (1973).
